Wingate and Finchley 2 Ramsgate 0
By Josh Cartwright

It was a frantic start from both sides with attempts fizzing across the box but neither side were yet to trouble either keeper.
A well worked move involving Jacob Bland and an Alfie Paxman dummy resulted in a goalward effort by Bivesh Gurung. However, it was hesitantly dealt with by Charlie
The Rams’ pursuit didn’t stop there, as their constant barrage of crosses finally got them a chance at goal through a headed chance by Billy Munday, but it proved very little to Grainger once again.

A second penalty shout waved away as Callum Jones threw himself to floor up against Kwadwo Bugyei-Kyei, rounding off a stalemate first half, leaving the fate of the game very much up in the balance.

The second half started off with a much higher intensity from the home side, eventually paying off, as a menacing cross saw Raphe Brown turn the ball into his own net.

A yellow card each and shots flying from all over the pitch, both sides pushed for a way to either get back into this game or kill the game off.

The Blues continued their relentless pursuit to secure all three points, with Ashley Nzala firing an effort inches away from the stadium erupting.

Until finally, Anointed Chukwu got his chance thanks to a pinpoint pass by Caoilan Mcgettigan and rounded the keeper slotting home the Blues’ second.

Up the other end, a moment to hang in the Louvre by Ryan Lowe, denying a surefire goal from Bivesh Gurung, not long before Charlie Grainger pulled off a save of the same calibre to preserve the clean sheet.

As the clock ran down, Ramsgate were left hung out to dry by Wingate’s defence and with no real answer, the Blues secured all 3 points.

The Blues welcome Stanway Rovers to Summers Lane on Saturday at 3PM in their next game so come along and support the boys as we climb the table!
