Wingate and Finchley dump out the Tudors despite late scare

Despite a strong start from the Tudors, it was Wingate who came closest from an Ashley Nzala effort following a strong run from Romeo Akinola.
As the half drew on, the visitors grew more menacing in attack with efforts from Josh Steele and Jake Tabor proving to be a problem for Charlie Grainger
As the first half drew to a close, it was the hosts who broke the deadlock. A rushing Ashley Nzala pounced on wandering ball, taking it around Michael Johnson and putting the Blues foot in the door for the next round.
The second half started just as the first did, with Hemel Hempstead applying plenty of pressure but failing to create any end product.
However, just like the first half, Wingate and Finchley found the back of the net, after a moment of perseverance by Ashley Nzala, resulting in a classy finish by Jack Thomas to double the lead.
An acrobatic effort from Jake Tabor following a moment of madness in the Wingate box, gifted the visitors an opening back into the game and a nervy last 25 minutes for the Blues.
With minutes left for the Tudors to respond, a scuffle incurred, ending with Michael Johnson on the floor and the visitors out of the FA Cup.
Wingate and Finchley will play Bedford Town in the next round of the FA Cup qualifying.
Up next, the Blues travel to The Ledger Stadium to face off against Real Bedford in the FA Trophy on Saturday (3PM), so please follow the Blues as they attempt to continue their FA Trophy campaign!
