Enfield took the lead early on with a calm finish from Amrit Bansal-McNulty, however, their pursuit for a second began immediately with efforts from Sam Youngs and Billy Leonard coming close.
The Town continued to keep Charlie Grainger busy with a saved attempt from Luke May-Parrot, not long before Bansal-McNulty doubled his tally for the day.
Wingate’s first attempt at goal came in the 21st minute with a Billy Cracknell header, but the result was a goal kick for the visitors.
Brilliant build up play between Caoilan McGettigan and Jack Thomas resulted in a gift for Anointed Chukwu as reduced the deficit just before the break.
The second half started as it finished as Wingate searched for an equalizer with Ashley Nzala forcing a save out of Dylan Thompson.
Enfield claimed the first and only booking of the afternoon, with Luke May-Parrot picking up a yellow for his challenge on Jack Thomas.
Not long after, Shiloh Remy restored Enfield’s two goal lead with one of his first touches, following a moment of magic by Amrit Bansal-McNulty.
As the game began to close out, Thomas Avgoustidis lifted the ball over the head of Charlie Grainger to seal the win for Enfield, amid the late efforts from Wingate.
Despite the result, the Blues’ heads never dropped and neither did the intensity, as they fought until the end. A performance filled with determination in front of a record-breaking crowd (749).
