Cheshunt came from behind to secure an impressive 3-1 win over Wingate & Finchley in an entertaining encounter. Wingate opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Theo Alexandrou finished calmly into the bottom left corner after a quick move involving Ore Bello. But Cheshunt responded swiftly. Just three minutes later, a corner taken by Dequane Wilson Braithwaite eventually found Raul Da Silva, who headed in to level the match at 1-1.
Both sides created chances in a lively first half. Wingate’s Camilo Restrepo forced a fine save in the 25th minute, and Cheshunt’s Tobias Braney tested Charlie Grainger in the 43rd. A flurry of action before the break saw missed opportunities at both ends, with the teams going into half-time all square.
Cheshunt took the lead early in the second half. In the 48th minute, Tobias Braney pounced on a rebound and tapped in from close range. Wingate pressed for an equaliser but were denied by strong goalkeeping and disciplined defending.
The home side sealed the win in the 75th minute when Charlie Naylor rose to head in a well-placed free kick by former Blue Antonis Vasiliou, making it 3-1. Despite Wingate’s late efforts, Cheshunt held on comfortably to claim all three points.
