Cockfosters preview

Wingate & Finchley host Cockfosters in the London Senior Cup on Tuesday night, looking to book their quarter final spot. The Blues have, so far, seen off Fisher FC in this competition and will face either Redbridge or Clapton in the last eight should they progress. The Blues will be looking to recover from Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Billericay Town in what was a cold, windy afternoon - and the conditions made the game a less entertaining affair than the quality of both teams were capable of producing. However, the Blues will be looking to get back on track and will be looking to their in form strike force to lead them to victory. Billy Healey has scored nine cup goals alone this season, but Karl Oliyide and Lee Barney have seven between them in cup competitions too. Cockfosters made the Last 16 via a 2-1 away win at Hanwell Town and come into this game in steady form. A 2-2 draw at St Margaretsbury followed a 1-1 draw at Tring Athletic but Dean Barker's side won their three games prior to that; including a 4-0 thrashing away at Broxbourne Borough. The Fosters boast a good away record, winning 10, drawing six and losing eight of their games on the road this season but they were on the end of a 3-0 defeat at Ryman League side, Harrow Borough earlier in the campaign. However, all form - be it league or away form - flies out of the window during the cup games and Barker will have his side well drilled to take on stern opposition. Wingate & Finchley will be anticipating a tough test but a win would see them into the last eight of a competition they last won in 2011. The few that still remain from that squad will be eager to repeat their success and Captain, Marc Weatherstone said, "As Captain of this club, I want to be lifting a trophy at the end of the season so it's a huge game for us to get one step closer."
