New Manager Appointed

The Club are pleased to announce that Keith Rowland has accepted the job as first team manager at Wingate and Finchley FC. Keith Rowland is a former footballer who played as a defender with Bournemouth, Coventry City, West Ham United, QPR, Luton Town, Chesterfield, Barnet, Hornchurch, Redbridge and Welling United. After coaching at Aveley F.C. and being instrumental in their promotion to the Ryman Premier division, Rowland followed manager Rod Stringer to Braintree Town in May 2010 where he was first-team coach. Managerial contract negotiations failed and he left the club with Stringer in May 2011. On 14 June 2011, Rowland returned to Braintree as Assistant Manager to Alan Devonshire, leaving there last summer. Rowland gained 19 caps for Northern Ireland scoring one goal in a 1-0 win against Finland on 10 October 1998. He was first capped whilst with West Ham making his international debut on 8 September 1993 against Latvia. His final game came on 9 May 1999. Club Chairman Aron Sharpe commented: "Keith is someone who interested me since he was Rod's assistant at Aveley. I am more than surprised that he was available as he should be coaching at a much higher level with his CV and his ability. My job here is to look after the best interests of the club and ensure that we continue to punch above our weight. I believe that we have made an appointment that will benefit the club and I look forward to working with Keith as do all of the directors and members."
