Pre-season preview - week two

The Blues are back! Our first week of pre-season has concluded, and it saw the Blues bag two good wins at The Football Pad. First up, on Tuesday night newly promoted Step 4 side Sporting Bengal United were the visitors, and after facing a 1-goal deficit at the interval, the Blues completed a great turnaround with a 5-1 victory at the final whistle. The Wingate & Finchley side contained a number of trialists and a couple of players from last season's U18s. Saturday saw the visit of fellow Step 3 side Royston Town who provided a tough opposition, but the Blues took all 3 points thanks to goals from defender Bobby Webb and new signing Ayo Tanimowo.

First up this week, on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick off) we will travel to face Ware FC at Wodson Park. Ware are a Step 4 side who finished in the playoffs in the Southern League Central division last season, achieving a playoff place in 5th position before losing to Bedford Town in front of over 1,000 fans back in May.

Saturday 13th sees us return to the Maurice Rebak Stadium for the first time as we will face off against a Peterborough United U23 side. Last season saw us face a side from "The Posh" in pre-season and it was a 2-0 victory on that day, including a Bobby Webb goal. Former Blues player and coach Anthony Limbrick is the Senior Professional Phase Lead at the League One side, responsible for overseeing the under 18s and under 21s within the Academy and will be bringing a side to challenge the Blues on Saturday.
