Wingate and Finchley host Uxbridge FC for their round of 16 tie in Middlesex Charity Cup on Wednesday, the second of four fixtures in an eight-day period for the Blues. Monday's 2-1 loss at Kingstonian saw Keith Rowland's men continue their unwanted run of eight games without a win. Despite dominating for large parts of the game Wingate just couldn't find a way past Kingstonian's goalkeeper, Rob Tolfrey. And, after last Tuesday's London Senior Cup loss to Redbridge, Wingate will be eager to keep hold of their remaining chances to bring home some silverware. Thursday's opponents Uxbridge FC come in to this game in similar form to the Blues. The Reds' only win in 2016 came on January 23rd against Ware, ending a run of seven straight defeats that stretched back to mid-December. A 1-1 draw with Arlesey at the weekend and a 2-1 loss to Beaconsfield SYCOB on Monday means Uxbridge currently occupy 14th spot in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central, some 75 places below Wingate. But, as we've already seen this season, size doesn't matter when it comes to cup competitions. Preview by Andy Gerlis
